Iminza Mbwaya (’12) Selected as Student Graduation Speaker at IE University

“Everything that marks our reality was once the dream of a pioneering mind, gradually realized through deliberate effort”.

These were the words of Iminza Mbwaya (’12) from Kenya as she delivered the Student Valedictory Speech at IE University’s 2019 graduation ceremonies on July 5th, 2019. Graduating with a double Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Law and Business Administration, Iminza reflected on the arduous journey that she and her classmates had walked over the five-year duration of her program, and the triumph of the human spirit through it all.

She said: “In the face of challenges, we learned to rally together and change what we could, and even in the face of what we couldn’t change, we found comfort in our sense of oneness and the cherished safe spaces that we built for ourselves”.

Following in the footsteps of another ALA alumnus from Kenya, Eunice Mwabe, who was student speaker at Harvard College’s Class Day in May, Iminza has returned to Kenya where she will be working with Dalberg Global Development Advisors, and expanding her thriving music career.
