Science Labs

ALA understands that Science and Technology are a key to Africa's future. In the 21st century, African scientists and technologists will discover cures to disease and develop higher-yield, drought resistant crops. They will bridge the digital divide, and develop sorely needed infrastructure. ALA's world-class science labs, funded in part by a grant from The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, enable the Academy to nurture these scientific and technical leaders of tomorrow.
Our fully-equipped labs empower students to explore the scientific method and cutting edge research, and enable our unique Scientific Research course. They also enable our students to explore the intersection of science and entrepreneurship, with the development of new products like ALMAS, a milk butter lotion developed by ALA graduate Brian Kalugira of Tanzania.
Graduates of our science program are now studying science and engineering in cutting-edge labs at universities like Stanford, Princeton, Rochester, and Duke.
