Supervised Excursions

The Academy balances the wonderful opportunities available to see and experience Johannesburg, one of Africa’s greatest cities, and the responsibility for every student’s safety. Therefore there are opportunities for supervised excursions off campus. These require some administrative preparation on the student’s part to ensure that all hosts, destinations and drivers are approved by the Academy, and that students go prepared with a contactable cell phone and clear time limit. Each student is checked back in so that there is little room for error.

However, as mentioned before, Johannesburg is an amazing metropolis, which must be experienced first hand to help and expose our students. There are numerous opportunities to meet and visit the many leaders and entrepreneurial institutes and headquarters in the city. Furthermore there are trips to social delights like the cities breathtaking malls and entertainment arenas.

The Academy attempts to expose students to as many leaders in person, which is another great advantage of this city, so that the students can aspire to be leaders in their own passion field. The mentorship programmes aims to pair students with leaders who can introduce them to the reality of their field of interest. This leads to internships and excursions to see the actual work in action. There are also a growing number of host families who ‘adopt’ students for their time in the country to provide them with another home away from home.
