Margaret Meagher

United States | Director of Global Partnerships

Margaret Meagher is currently Director of Global Partnerships at African Leadership Academy, supporting transformative change in Africa by identifying, developing and connecting the continent’s next generation of leaders. She has 20+ years of experience in international development and education, emphasizing poverty reduction, impact measurement, youth leadership, and education for social transformation.

She was previously with The MasterCard Foundation as a primary architect of its $500M global program centered on scholarships for social transformation, particularly in Africa. Prior to MCF, she was a senior leader in CARE International’s Basic and Girls’ Education team, leading an evidence-based initiative targeting marginalized children across 17 developing countries.

She has extensive experience in partnership development, program design, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, gendered and underlying causes of poverty analysis, and has received numerous awards for outstanding university-level teaching and youth mentorship. She has jointly authored several publications; serves on several boards; and is a polyglot with extensive work experience across developing countries. She holds a M.A. from the University of Minnesota, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development
