ALA Faculty
African Leadership Academy’s faculty is comprised of outstanding, innovative teachers from
across Africa and around the world. Some are lifelong teachers and scholars, while others have
worked as practitioners in their fields - as leaders and entrepreneurs in the fields of science,
business, and public service. ALA faculty members are “systems thinkers” who see connections across
disciplines and encourage deep exploration of student interests.
All ALA faculty members share a belief that
young people can change the world. They will lead provocative, interactive classroom
discussions and support independent exploration into topics of interest. They will help ALA
students turn their dreams into reality.

Experts-in-Residence
Students at African Leadership Academy also have the opportunity to regularly interact with
visiting “experts-in-residence.” Experts-in-residence are leaders in their fields who spend at
least one week on campus and lead intimate student seminars into subjects of interest. All ALA
students have the opportunity to sign up for a seminar led by an expert-in-residence each quarter.
A renowned author might lead a one-week seminar on “Writing Creative Fiction”, while a movie
producer might teach a course on “Film Production and Editing” utilizing the high-tech ALA design
laboratory. A retired diplomat might teach a short course on “International Diplomacy and the
United Nations” while a well-known female CEO might lead a course on “Women in Leadership” at our
campus.
