Alexandra Holland, History Faculty
Alex Holland joins ALA from Sha Tin College in Hong Kong, where she most recently served as Vice
Principal. Born in Zambia, Alex has been teaching for 12 years, first in her native United Kingdom
and later in Hong Kong. Outside the classroom, Alex coordinates the Hong Kong Model United Nations,
sings in choirs, and enjoys hiking, swimming, scuba diving and reading. She has travelled
extensively in Africa and has a passion for African history. She is excited about discussing
perspectives on events, personalities and themes with ALA students. About history, Alex says “I’ve
been excited by the past since I was a child, and having a job that pays me for reading, writing
and arguing about my passion is fantastic!” She has a History degree from the University of Wales
in Swansea.
