Cheryl Read, English Faculty

Cheryl Read joins ALA from St Stithians Boys’ College, one of the leading schools in South Africa, where she most recently served as Head of the English Department. Cheryl has been teaching at St Stithians for seven years. Originally from Pretoria, South Africa, Cheryl lived in the U.K. for seven years where she completed her BA (Hons) in Linguistics and Language Studies at the University of Leeds. After teaching at Harrrogate Grammar and Richmond Schools in North Yorkshire, she decided to return home to the country of her passion. She enjoys long distance running and swimming and has recently started doing triathlons. Cheryl is currently studying an MBA at Witswatersrand Business School. She loves teaching and interacting with young people and is thrilled to have the opportunity to join African Leadership Academy.
