The ALA Community
African Leadership Academy is a vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff from across the African continent and around the world. All members of our community are leaders - regardless of each individual’s race, gender, religion, or family background – and we share a dream of transforming Africa to a peaceful and prosperous continent. We live our lives in accordance with the ALA values: integrity, curiosity, humility, compassion, diversity, and excellence.

At African Leadership Academy, you will share a dormitory with young leaders who share your dreams and passion for Africa but are from very different backgrounds. You will learn each other’s languages, discover each other’s cultural heritage, and find shared interests. You will spend your evenings with dormitory staff from different regions of Africa and the world, and you will study each day with outstanding teachers who bring unique perspectives to our discussion-based classes.

Health and Wellness
ALA values the health and wellness of all members of its community. ALA employs a school nurse to look after the health and wellness needs of its students, and all dormitory staff are certified in first aid and CPR. Housemasters, housemistresses, and residential advisors in the dormitories provide an important support system, and a network of trained peer counselors provides guidance and support to all students.

Dormitory Living
Our comfortable student dorms are an integral part of the ALA experience. Students live in functional and comfortable dormitories and share their dorm rooms with just one other student. Dormitory common areas give students the opportunity to relax in evenings and build deep friendships with their peers.

Dining Services
African Leadership Academy has an exceptional dining hall and an on-site chef and kitchen staff who ensure that all students receive the nourishment required for the exceptionally active student life at ALA. The dining hall serves three nutritious meals each day and a mid-morning snack. Fresh fruits and other snacks are available for purchase during the remainder of the day at the school canteen.
