Clinical Psychologist

Phethile works in the Wellness department and together with the team ensure that mental health needs of the student population is addressed.

Phethile provides psychotherapeutic services for the student community

Phethile has 10 years experience working as psychologist both in the public and private sector. Her clinical work experience includes working with adults (individual therapy), children (play therapy) & adolescents, couples, parent-infant work as well as families from different cultural groups. She has and continues to consult for community-based organizations including Buskaid and serves as a board member for House of Hope. She is a co-founder of an initiative, Youth of the South, that brings together young people from township high schools to have dialogues on matters of our racialized, violent history and its impact and manifestation in the present, with the aim of envisioning a different future. In addition, Phethile is a part of the Thinking Space Team, an initiative that facilitates a space for learners and teachers to think about, issues of power and difference in the learning environment.
