Former CEO, MTN Group
Phuthuma Nhleko was the Group CEO of Africa’s largest telecom conglomerate – MTN Group until March 2011. Previously, Nhleko served as a Senior Executive of the Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank corporate finance team from 1991 to 1994. He serves as a Board member for GSM Association, Engen, Nedbank Investment Bank, Old Mutual Life Holdings, Anglo American, British Petroleum and Alexander Forbes. He currently serves as the Chairman of Pembani Group and Worldwide African Investment Holdings. He has served as the Chairman of MTN International since March 31, 2011. Nhleko holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Ohio State University, and an MBA from Atlanta University.
