Join a Student Enterprise Board

The Student Enterprise Program

A cornerstone of the ALA experience is the Student Enterprise Program which sees ALA students running businesses or non-profit organizations for a full year, providing them with hands-on training in leadership, entrepreneurship and management and preparing them to pursue leadership and entrepreneurial opportunities on the continent.

External input and advisory support is critical to their learning path and ALA requires volunteer advisory board members of 4-6 professionals for each enterprise. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with 5+ years of career experience who can commit to 3 afternoon-long board meetings during the academic year, and who is based in Johannesburg. Deepen your relationship with ALA and play an active role in helping us to develop the next generation of African leaders by serving as as an Advisory Board Member on an ALA Student Enterprise.

Organizations which have served on ALA’s Student Enterprise Boards include:

Tiger Brands, Coca-Cola, Discovery, Sodexo, SABS, Nestle, Anglo America, Edu Loan, BCG, McKinsey, GIBS, Techno Serve SA, Afroes, Eskom, Regent, Africare, GE, AT Kearney, Sparks Schools, Liberty Life, EY, Emerson, Lilly Green Cape and Nedbank.
