Early Career Success: University Partner Engagement Lead

Lois is a Network Coordinator. Lois helps ALA students find and start their dream careers by matching them to opportunities across the continent.

Analyzing CVs, unpacking internships, supporting multiple network sectors, planning events, communicating with students and training them are a few of Lois’s responsibilities.

Before joining ALA, Lois was a part of Bulembu school in Eswatini, where she assisted in the development of new strategies for integration and educational development while teaching students. She also part of a Johannesburg initiative called Home-Base, where she was involved with hands-on mentoring, vocational training and finding first employment for vulnerable youth. This role also saw Lois develop a new course curriculum that combined educational, apprenticeship and life skills components. Sitting on a government-sponsored committee she helped review potential models on a regional level for teenagers who have aged out of children’s homes. Joining Challenge Ministries in the UK, Lois acted in a support capacity to other NGOs through marketing, event management and fundraising. This involved maintaining social media presences,organising international trips and charity events. Furthermore, Lois identified and equipped ambassadors and donors in the United Kingdom. Returning to South Africa, Lois was involved with a project titled Malibongwe, helping single mothers in the community with life and business skills to empower them to sustain and thrive their family.

Lois is part of the advisory program at ALA.
