Nolizwe Mhlaba

Nolizwe provides technical expertise to drive the Anzisha Prize’s work which strengthens the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem in Africa.

Nolizwe creates resources and designs and facilitates capacity training and information sharing workshops. Through this work, she develops communities of practice in entrepreneurship education among educators and parents across the continent.

Nolizwe has worked in international development and education for more than a decade. Prior to joining ALA in 2010, she worked in advocacy and policy analysis, focusing on social and economic justice, conflict prevention, and conflict resolution. Nolizwe’s teaching experiences cut across different school levels as well as various institutional and program types. As managing editor for an international education journal, she supported scholars and practitioners to get their work ready for publication. Nolizwe is a 2016 Education Pioneers Fellow and a former research fellow for Save the Children.
Through ALA’s advisory, wellness, and extracurricular program, Nolizwe has mentored many students over the years. She also previously coached the women’s basketball team and served as a student enterprise board member.
