Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Hanifa is a Project Management professional, Human Rights advocate, and Democracy and Governance enthusiast. She holds an Honors Degree in Social Science from Midlands State University in Zimbabwe and a Master of Philosophy in Human Rights from the University of Pretoria, where she is currently pursuing a PhD in International Relations. Hanifa has also earned a graduate certificate in Project Management and completed several Leadership courses. In 2021, she received the Young African Leaders Fellowship Award from the School of Transnational Governance at the European University Institute.

As a Senior Program Manager for the Africa Career Networks Affiliates program, Hanifa has experience across non-profits, civil society, government, academia, and multilateral institutions. She has contributed to policy and practice that amplify marginalized voices and promote citizen-centered governance, working with organizations like Freedom House, the International Republican Institute, British Council, and Habitat for Humanity. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities, travel, and exploring new cultures and cuisines.
