Born in Johannesburg and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Won Sun Mbengeni is an alumna of the African Leadership Academy (Class of 2013). She rejoined ALA in 2016 as part of the Global Programs Department, where she contributed until 2019. Passionate about education and economics, she pursued higher studies at Quest University Canada, earning a Bachelor of Science and Arts with a focus on these fields.
After graduating, Won Sun channeled her entrepreneurial spirit into supporting Black founders in Western Canada, where she now resides. Her work involved identifying grant opportunities, coaching entrepreneurs, and assisting with pitches to help them secure funding and grow their businesses.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Won Sun is a passionate dancer, exploring and performing various genres. She also enjoys reading African literature and listening to R&B music.
