Alvin Ailey Dance Company Hosts Workshop at ALA

Arguably America’s most famous dance group, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is currently in South Africa on their international tour.  The dance company were performing in Johannesburg recently and paid ALA a visit to host a dance workshop. On 7 September 2015, four of the dancers from The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT) company namely: Samantha Figgins, Yannick Lebrun, Jacqueline Green and Collin Heyward – hosted a dance workshop with our staffulty and young leaders teaching them excerpts from their repertoire such as Exodus, Takademe and Revelations. The young leaders and staffulty also had an opportunity to ask the dancers a few questions about their careers in a Q&A session held after the workshop was complete.

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater was founded in 1958 by Alvin Ailey a choreographer and dancer. The company is made up of 30 dancers and is based in New York, USA.
