Committing yourself to identifying, developing and connecting the next generation of African leaders is no small task. Since our inception in 2008, African Leadership Academy has received over 22000 applications from all 54 countries of the continent. We work hard to ensure that the final applicant pool includes Africans from all walks of life and backgrounds. To ensure this our search is exhaustive and includes a number of online and offline activities.
In recruiting for the Class of 2016, we visited twenty countries, 35 cities, towns, and regional centres. During our recruitment tour we visit schools to present directly to potential applicants, we host regional information sessions on the Academy, speak on radio and meet with journalists.
We also maintain strong relationships with educators, youth activities and government officials in the countries we are not able to visit in person. Through them, news of the ALA opportunity reaches scores of high potential young Africans aged 16 – 19 years.
Throughout the year, prospective applicants are able to engage with us via our Facebook page, website, telephone and email. On our team we have English, French, Portuguese and Arabic speakers ensuring that whoever you, we can communicate with you.
This month, 130 more will be offered places in the ALA Class of 2016.We are grateful to the multitudes of adult influencers – teachers, headmasters, parents, and friends whose guidance and favour gives so many young people the confidence to aspire to attend the Academy. Thank you for your shared commitment to transforming this continent.
