Welcome to our Mega Mix Issue!
We started compiling this newsletter around the theme of Storytelling, aiming to highlight ALA’s vault of prolific storytellers, and to share the stories of those who have been who have either been impacted by our institution and its programs – or are making an impact on us. It’s our Decennial Year, after all, a time when our stories take on greater significance. Proof of this is the fact that there was no stopping the deluge of news.
ALA has a myriad stories to share: from activities on campus, like our recent Student Government elections – powered by Cyril Michino (Year 2), founder of ALA’s African Blockchain Initiative to effect one of the first decentralized campus elections in Africa – to the impact of our various programs like the recent ALAMAU and upcoming Global Scholars Program.
We urge you to follow intrepid ‘Edventurer’ Alexander ‘Zander’ Wrey, who is cycling from @Alexandria2Alexander, raising funds for ALA in the process; and see why we’re excited about the recent launch of the Trevor Noah Foundation, founded by the celebrated SA-born host of The Daily Show, which aims, he says, to “bridge the gap between learners and the education they deserve”.
