Four ALA Students Attend Africa Energy Week 2023

Four of our Year Two students had the privilege of attending the African Energy Week (AEW) 2023 conference in Cape Town, South Africa. Under the theme “The African Resistance: Prioritizing Energy Poverty, People, Planet, Industrialization, and Free Market,” the conference brought together energy experts, policymakers, and industry leaders from across the continent and beyond to address critical energy challenges and forge a path towards a sustainable energy future for Africa.

Ekow Williams ‘22 (Ghana), Letsabisa Motsoene ‘22 (Lesotho), Abdalla Ibrahim ‘22 (Egypt), and Christine Kabiru ‘22 (Kenya) attended Africa Energy Week with ALA Physics Faculty member Keshav Singh. The four students all demonstrated their passion for energy and their commitment to shaping a brighter future for Africa.

At Africa Energy Week, our students engaged with energy experts, attended thought-provoking panel discussions, and explored innovative technologies showcased at the exhibition. They witnessed firsthand the urgency of addressing energy poverty, the potential of renewable energy sources, and the role of innovation in shaping a sustainable energy future.

“Oil and gas are finite resources, and a time will come when they will no longer be available. We need to find solutions now to avoid a crisis in the future.”

Ekow Arkorful Williams' 22 (Ghana)

The experience at Africa Energy Week has ignited a passion within our students to tackle Africa's energy challenges. They are eager to apply their knowledge and insights to develop sustainable energy solutions that will not only address energy poverty but also protect the environment and foster economic growth.

As they embark on their journeys as entrepreneurial leaders, we are confident that our students will play a pivotal role in shaping Africa's sustainable energy future.
