As Term Two drew to a close, the African Leadership Academy community had the honor of hosting a special guest speaker, Dr. Acha Leke, co-founder of the African Leadership Academy and Chair of McKinsey & Company’s Africa practice.
Dr. Leke’s visit was a homecoming of sorts, as he addressed the very institution he helped establish with a vision to nurture future leaders who would drive Africa’s growth and development. His commitment to the continent’s transformation was evident throughout his thought-provoking talk.
During his address, Dr. Leke emphasized the importance of giving back to the community, a value that lies at the core of ALA’s mission. He encouraged the students to embrace this principle, stressing the pivotal role they can play in shaping Africa’s future by contributing their skills and knowledge to their respective communities.
Drawing from his extensive experience working with numerous African nations on economic development projects, Dr. Leke offered insightful perspectives on Africa’s current economic landscape. He highlighted the crucial role that social enterprises like ALA and organizations like McKinsey play in driving sustainable growth and progress across the continent.
As ALA students continue their journey towards becoming the next generation of African leaders, Dr. Leke’s words serve as a powerful reminder of the impact they can have by embodying the values of service, leadership, and commitment to their communities.
