WLSA Students Bring Global Exchange and Chinese New Year to ALA

For two weeks, African Leadership Academy (ALA) had the privilege of hosting students from the World Leading Schools Association (WLSA) as part of an enriching exchange program. Minnie, Thomas, and Justin, visiting from WLSA Shanghai, fully immersed themselves in the ALA experience—sharing insights about their school, forging cross-cultural friendships, and celebrating Chinese New Year with our community.

Their visit began with a captivating Assembly presentation, where they introduced us to WLSA Shanghai’s academic culture, extracurricular life, and global education philosophy. By highlighting both the similarities and differences between our schools, they sparked engaging conversations about international collaboration and student leadership.

Beyond Assembly, the visiting students embraced every aspect of ALA life—attending classes, joining discussions, and forming connections that transcended cultural boundaries. Their presence on campus was a testament to the power of global learning, fostering meaningful exchanges and broadening perspectives on both sides.

One of the most memorable highlights of their stay was the Chinese New Year celebration. Minnie, Thomas, and Justin brought the ALA community into the festivities by sharing the traditions, symbolism, and significance of this important holiday. Through interactive discussions and vibrant activities, students and staff alike gained a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture, making it a truly special occasion.

This exchange was more than just a visit—it was a powerful cultural bridge that strengthened the ties between ALA and WLSA. By sharing traditions, experiences, and perspectives, both communities walked away with valuable insights and a renewed sense of global connection. As ALA continues to foster a globally engaged student body, moments like these remind us that the most profound learning often happens beyond the classroom—across borders, cultures, and friendships.
