2026 ALA Model African Union Conference: March 18-22, 2026
Africa faces a simple but urgent question: Will we shape the future or be shaped by it? The world is changing rapidly. Traditional power structures are shifting, new alliances are emerging, and authority, influence, and resources are being redistributed across the globe. In this critical moment, Africa must respond with clarity, unity, and purpose. ALAMAU 2026 calls on Africa’s youth to reimagine the continent’s role in global affairs and take bold steps to define its own path forward.
Since its establishment in 2002, the African Union (AU) has pursued the vision of an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful continent that is driven by its citizens and influential on the global stage. In alignment with this mission, the 2026 African Leadership Academy Model African Union (ALAMAU) theme, “Actualizing the African Renaissance through Strategic Unity in a Shifting Global Order,” reflects the AU’s aspirations for unity, prosperity, and global influence. This theme invites delegates to reflect on the continent’s opportunities and responsibilities in this environment.
The African Renaissance speaks to a future where Africa reclaims its identity, drives innovation, and builds resilient systems of governance and growth. Achieving this vision depends on strategic unity cooperation that goes beyond symbolism to coordinated action. In a shifting global order, where old institutions decline and new powers emerge, Africa faces both challenges and unique opportunities to shape its place on the world stage.
At ALAMAU 2026, delegates will explore how Africa can achieve this renaissance through practical engagement with real-world issues affecting the continent today. Through immersive simulations in 12 Committees, the Peace and Security Council, the African Court on Human & Peoples’ Rights, ECOSOCC, and the Press Corps, participants will critically examine questions of unity, sovereignty, and leadership in a changing world. They will debate solutions, draft resolutions, and reflect on Africa’s capacity to lead amidst global uncertainty.
Guided by their Committee Chairs, Deputy Chairs, and Moderators, delegates will connect these debates to Africa’s broader transformation goals whether in areas of trade, security, health, technology, or human rights. Each session will reflect the urgency of the present moment and the belief that Africa’s time is not in the distant future it is now.
ALAMAU 2026 is more than a simulation. It is a platform for rising leaders to challenge the status quo, to speak with one voice, and to ignite a new era of African influence, resilience, and unity. The renaissance is no longer an aspiration, it is a responsibility.
