2016 Anzisha Prize Applications Open

Are you one of Africa’s youngest entrepreneurs? Do you know someone who may be?

If you can answer yes to any of the above, we have great news: the 2016 Anzisha Prize application window is officially open!  The prize is open to any African national under the age of 22 with an active project, social venture or for-profit business based on the continent. The judging criteria for the prize has been refined for 2016 to better represent the entrepreneurial talent that the Anzisha Prize wants to uncover and support. This modified criteria can be found in all application materials.

We are looking for 12 finalists, female and male alike from all over the continent. This year, we are actively seeking to reach out to young entrepreneurial hot beds we have not tapped into yet; such as Mali and Madagascar. As soon as the applications are open, the Anzisha Team will be spreading the word in a country near you through our annual Prize Tour. The countries we will be visiting on our Prize Tour include Egypt, Mali, Madagascar, Senegal and Rwanda. We will be visiting various cities and areas during our Prize Tour and spreading the word on radio stations, that cater to young people to get the word out about the $7,500 fellowship experience and opportunity to compete for $100,000 in prize money.

“Our partners across the continent are selected to join hands in search for Africa’s youngest, most promising social and business entrepreneurs. Together, this network of change makers works to build a powerful ecosystem to accelerate youth entrepreneurial activity in every corner of Africa.”   – Melissa, Partners Management Associate

Look out for updates of the Prize Tour on our Facebook page!  If you know of any people and places we should check out during our visits, please feel free to let us know via our Facebook page.

The Anzisha Prize is hosted by the African Leadership Academy  in partnership with The MasterCard Foundation, the Anzisha Prize celebrates initiative and innovation. Now approaching its sixth year, the Prize has grown into one of the most sought after awards for young entrepreneurs on the continent. In addition to cash prizes, past winners and finalists have since benefitted from media exposure, funding, access to business networks and continuous support through mentorship.
