Welcome to our Entrepreneurship issue!
This month is devoted to the spirit and practice of entrepreneurship that cuts across all our work. There is no better way to provide a window into this than through the eyes of our students. Year 1 student Tania Twinoburyo’s blog does just that, offering a reflection on the recent Enterprise Festival (E-Fest) and the months of BUILDing that led up to it. We also reveal some lesser known fun facts about our on-campus entrepreneurship simulation – The Student Enterprise Program – and introduce you to 5 alumni with thriving businesses in education, fashion, music and healthcare.
We also have some big announcements. Today we release our first piece of deep research – a Learning Brief – that sets out the case for entrepreneurship education at a young age. We also are proud to announce the launch The Anzisha Effect, an online resource and newsletter for the parents, teachers and supporters of very young African entrepreneurs.
March is one of ALA’s busiest in the calendar, with our annual Parents Weekend, South African Ideas Festival, E-Fest and of course Model African Union. In all, over 500 students from other schools all over the world descend on ALA before Easter each year, and we’ll share all the excitement of this period in next month’s newsletter.
