ALA set to globally showcase unique entrepreneurship curriculum at World Education Week

African Leadership Academy (ALA) has been selected as a showcase school at the upcoming World Education Week. The virtual conference, which takes place from 5 to 9 October 2020, has been billed as the world’s biggest education conference to share expertise and best practices. The conference seeks to support and advance the United Nation’s fourth Sustainable Development Goal of Quality Education. ALA will be among 100 schools from across the world to present during the conference.

ALA set to globally showcase unique entrepreneurship curriculum at World Education Week

Entrepreneurial Leadership (EL) is one of ALA’s three flagship core courses, along with African Studies and Writing & Rhetoric. Our EL course is designed to build the interpersonal and leadership skills that are essential for future agents of positive change. Through this course  students develop the mindset, approach, and skills necessary to be entrepreneurial leaders on the African continent and beyond. Within the EL course, the Student Enterprise Program (SEP) is a cornerstone of the ALA experience that sees second year ALA students running businesses or non-profit organizations for a full year. The program provides students with hands-on training in leadership, entrepreneurship and management and prepares them to pursue leadership and entrepreneurial opportunities on the continent.

One of the conference’s key themes is “Building programmes to enhance employability, entrepreneurship and life skills”. In line with this,  our EL department will draw from their unique curriculum and share key insights on “Effectively teaching Entrepreneurial Leadership”. Our team will share their journey at ALA in promoting ethical entrepreneurship from both educator and student perspectives.

We invite you to join us on the 8th of October at 12pm GMT (2pm SAST) for this free and interactive session. Register here.
