Every year, African Leadership Academy’s graduation is a moment to reflect on the leadership, resilience, and service that define our community. One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony is recognizing students who have gone above and beyond, both in their studies and in the ways they have supported others.
Graduation Awards
The Leadership Award
The Leadership Award is awarded to the graduating student in the graduating class whose leadership is a model and inspiration for the students, faculty, and staff in the African Leadership Academy community.
This year, the honor went to Leonah Miniyothabo Ndlovu from Zimbabwe, a force behind the Student Media Team and a leader whose presence has been felt across campus. Whether capturing stories or helping shape them, Leonah led with strength, collaboration, and creativity. Her growth over the last two years has made her a model of servant leadership in action.

The Sani Prize
The Sani Prize was awarded to a student whose tireless effort, innovative solutions, lofty ideals, and commitment to excellence serves to further the mission, vision, and values of the Academy, in the spirit of Mr. Iliyasu Adinoyi Sani, an African pioneer and member of the inaugural ALA faculty.

Each year, ALA also honors an external leader who exemplifies the Academy’s mission of transforming Africa. The Honorary Diploma in Leadership is conferred in recognition of extraordinary service to the continent.
This year, the diploma was awarded to Ralph Mupita, President and CEO of MTN Group, for his visionary leadership and his enduring commitment to Africa’s development. His keynote address reminded us all to dream boldly, lead with purpose, and never underestimate what is possible.
