The Teachers Behind the Leaders

At ALA we celebrate students—their ideas, their energy, and their commitment to community. Yet behind many of them is a teacher who saw that potential first, someone who believed in them and pushed them to go further.

Teaching at ALA is about more than subject expertise, it is about connection. Our teachers are mentors and guides who create spaces where students can ask hard questions, take risks, and begin to understand who they are becoming.

In this video, two faculty members reflect on that experience: Dr. Eunice Chilimanzi, Chair of Writing, and Mr. Leslie Moloto from the Physics faculty. They speak with honesty about what it means to teach at ALA, and how their students have shaped them in return.

Their reflections remind us of the influence teachers hold, shaping not only academic paths but entire lives.
