Eric Wambugu ’25: Cooking with Purpose

At ALA, leadership often shows up in unexpected places. Sometimes, it starts in a kitchen.

Eric Wambugu is a young chef and entrepreneur from Kenya who has built a growing platform around food, creativity, and storytelling. What began as a personal interest has evolved into something much larger, reaching thousands of people and opening doors to collaborations, mentorship, and real world impact.

This video follows Eric in his element, cooking, creating, and reflecting on the journey that brought him here. Through his voice, we see how food can become more than just a skill. It becomes a way to connect, to teach, and to lead.

His work spans both digital and physical spaces. From building a food media platform with a wide following to collaborating with established brands, Eric is learning what it means to turn passion into something sustainable. At the same time, he continues to give back, mentoring young creators and supporting students in his community through the Bourne Kenya Initiative.

What stands out is not just what Eric has built, but how he thinks about impact. There is a quiet clarity in the way he speaks about starting small, staying consistent, and using what you have to create something meaningful.

This is a story about food, but it is also a story about initiative, creativity, and the courage to begin.

And it is just the start.
