Sumanah was born and raised in South Africa. She has recently completed a Master's degree in Critical Diversity Studies. In her prior studies she completed an Honours degree in Journalism at Rhodes University. Thereafter she pursued her love for teaching and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of the Witwatersrand. Since then she has worked in various highschools in Johannesburg and also has experience working as a researcher in Early Childhood Education. Sumanah enjoys creative pursuits such as choir singing, writing poetry and yoga.
