Giving Tuesday: Showing Gratitude for the Creative Arts

One thing that has served as a source of comfort, strength and joy throughout the year is the plethora of digital creative arts offerings across the globe. From Tik Tok videos, to the living room concerts, 2020 has shown us how important the arts industry is to us all.

Over the last few weeks, we have taken some time to reflect on what the creative arts means to us as a community through asking members of our community: #WhatMovesYou?

This social media campaign is a part of a larger campaign that we are delighted to launch this pivotal campaign in conjunction with this year’s Giving Tuesday (1 December 2020).

Moving Africa Through The Arts is a campaign that seeks to support, highlight, and celebrate young artists in the African Leadership Academy network and beyond because we believe in the power of the creative arts to transform the African continent.

In order to enable creative discovery and learning on campus, ALA seeks to build a Creative Arts Commons consisting of five studio spaces and a renovated auditorium.

Today’s auditorium is unable to house our growing campus community, making this a mission-critical project in our Campus Master Plan. In doing so, we aim to raise $150,000 to fund the construction of the Creative Commons.
