African Leadership Academy’s Year 1 students made a lasting impression at the Georgetown Model United Nations (GMUN) 2025 in Qatar, returning home with an incredible twelve awards across various committees. Competing alongside some of the most talented young delegates from around the world, our students stood out for their diplomacy, critical thinking, and leadership – once again proving why ALA is known for developing the next generation of global changemakers.

Over the course of the conference, our students tackled some of the world’s most pressing issues – from international security to economic development – engaging in thoughtful debate, proposing creative solutions, and collaborating with peers from across the globe. Their performance was a reflection not only of their hard work but also of the preparation they receive through programs like ALA’s Debate Society, Model African Union, and International Relations courses, which sharpen their research skills, communication, and strategic thinking.
At ALA, leadership development doesn’t end when classes do. Opportunities like GMUN give our students the chance to test their skills on the world stage and build the confidence to lead real change, both in Africa and beyond.
We couldn’t be prouder of our delegation and all they accomplished at GMUN 2025. Their success is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when talent meets purpose.
